The
Australian Signals Directorate's
(ASD)
Australian Cyber Security Centre
(ACSC)
has developed prioritised mitigation strategies to help organisations protect themselves against various cyber threats.
The most effective of these mitigation strategies are the
Essential Eight
(E8).
In the 2022-23 ASD report, nearly 94,000 reports of cybercrime were submitted: on average that's one report every 6 minutes.
The cost of cybercrime to businesses increased 14% from the previous year.
We understand that navigating cybersecurity can be challenging, and we're here to help.
The ASD recommends that all Australian businesses achieve Maturity Level Three for the optimal malware threat and cyberattack protection.
The mitigation strategies that constitute the Essential Eight are:
- patch applications
- patch operating systems
- multi-factor authentication
- restrict administrative privileges
- application control
- restrict Microsoft Office macros
- user application hardening
- regular backups
